The good news for a group is that the island's breakfast scene has range: French bread and proper coffee, vegan bowls, Filipino silog, slow brunches with air conditioning when the heat wins. And it is spread across the island, so wherever the morning finds you, something good is nearby. Here are our ten, by area.

In General Luna

1. Shanti Shanty

A family-run café where everything is made in-house: sourdough bread, croissants, cookies, even the alternative milks. Shanti Shanty is the place for French bread and sandwiches done with real care, the kind of bakery you would be glad to find in a city, sitting quietly on a tropical island instead. The veggie sandwich and the banana bread have their own following.

Go in the morning while the bread is at its best, and take a loaf home for the villa.

2. The Brunch Spot

The Brunch Spot is exactly what the name promises, done properly. Family owned and family run, open every day from 7am, with breakfast stacks, good coffee, smoothies, and what might be the best cinnamon bun in town. The interior is genuinely lovely, there is air conditioning for the hot mornings, and nobody hurries you out.

The kind of place a group settles into for a long catch-up over second coffees.

3. The Soul Shack

The Soul Shack is a small plant-powered café and cacao bar, cosy and a little bohemian, open from 8am to 4pm. The ceremonial cacao is the signature, the food is healthy without making a point of it, and there is a lovely little shop tucked inside worth a browse on the way out.

The quiet one on the list. Come solo with a book, or bring the one friend who appreciates a slow morning.

4. Vedya

Vedya is a boutique hostel with a vegan café that outgrew its guests. Smoothie bowls, hummus and mushroom toasts, falafel bowls, and good coffee, served from early morning. Stay until late morning and their vegan buffet of local dishes appears, which is one of the best-value lunches in town.

Plenty of variety for mixed groups, and the vegans in yours will thank you.

In Santa Fe

5. Marmalade

If you are riding north, take the road through Santa Fe and stop at Marmalade. Good coffee, a relaxed breakfast menu, and hammocks close enough to the beach that the morning can stretch as long as it likes. It has the feel of a café that belongs to its barangay, not to a tourist strip.

The perfect first stop on a north-coast day.

6. Bamboo Surf Caffé

A few minutes on, Bamboo Surf Caffé calls itself your neighborhood café in Santa Fe, and the description fits. The bamboo structure alone is worth the stop, the coffee and matcha are among the best on the island, and the menu runs from Filipino silog to crepes and galettes. Open 7am to 6pm, every day.

Where slow times become good times, as their own line goes. We could not put it better.

In the North

7. Kolekbibo, Burgos

Kolekbibo sits in Burgos overlooking the beach, and it earns its place on this list twice over. The food is genuinely good, the view even better, and every meal supports a non-profit community project focused on women's empowerment. Breakfast that does something with your money is a rare and easy win.

If you read our guide on giving back to the island, this is the same Kolekbibo. Now you have two reasons to go.

8. Manu Brew, Pacifico

Manu Brew is Pacifico's coffee stop, and after the ride up from General Luna you will have earned it. Proper coffee in a village where that is not a given, close enough to the surf to watch the morning session while you drink it.

Small, simple, exactly what the north needs.

9. Common Ground, Pacifico

Common Ground is a café, a few rooms, and a yoga shala in a green corner of Pacifico, and it might be the most complete morning on the island. Yoga at 8, then shakshuka with homemade sourdough, or their sourdough pancakes, in a garden where time moves differently. Most of the menu is plant-based and all of it is homemade.

Come for breakfast, stay for the morning. Everyone does.

Smoothie

10. Kalma Surf Caffé, Burgos

Rounding out the north, Kalma in Burgos is the laid-back one: good brunch, famously good burgers later in the day, and the unhurried Burgos pace that gives the café its name. Kalma means calm, and the place delivers on it.

Pair it with a surf check at Pacifico and a swim, and the whole morning writes itself.

A Note on the Ride North

Half this list doubles as an itinerary. Coffee at Marmalade or Bamboo in Santa Fe, breakfast proper in Pacifico or Burgos, then the beaches. The north of the island rewards a slow start, and these cafés are how you take one.

Plan Your Visit

For everything around the southern spots, start with our guide to General Luna, and if you are planning the trip itself, when to visit Siargao covers the seasons.

And the best breakfasts start with a good night somewhere quiet. The Grove House, a four-bedroom villa with a private pool just outside General Luna, opens in December 2026. Slow mornings by the pool included.
